Let’s get the parade down Woodward ready right? Oh wait its only week one and now we have the Minnesota Vikings in town. A battle of first place teams! Should be one for the history books right? Well probably not! Most of you can’t even name the Vikings Quarterback, and the Lions almost blew a 20 point lead to the pathetic Raiders last week. One player that will make this game exciting is the rookie out of Oklahoma Adrian Peterson. Peterson put up 103 rushing yards last week with just 19 carries. Oh I know it was against maybe the worst team in the league, Joey’s own Falcons but Peterson looked explosive on almost every carry. If LaMont Jordan could put up 70 yards with just 15 carries on the Lions defense, Peterson could have a career day, especially if Chester Taylor is bothered by his oblique muscle. One thing I thought was promising last week was how the Lions were able to establish a passing game against one of the best pass defenses in the league last year. Kitna did throw for two interceptions but that is to be expected. This week he will probably throw a couple more, the Vikings picked off two last week and Kitna is not much better then Harrington, especially when it comes to turnovers. The Lions will need to have a huge passing game if they are to pull this one out this week. The running game was non existent last week and T.J Duckett probably won’t even play this weekend. The Lions defense is going to have to step up and play great. Tarvaris Jackson is not a proven starting quarterback. They must make him turnover the ball and they have to stop Adrian Peterson from rushing over 100 yards and no touchdowns. The question is can they do that? I’m saying NO! The Lions have not proven at all that they can step up when the game matters. Everybody is saying that the culture is changing, but they haven’t proven anything to me. Peterson will probably run for over 100 yards and Jackson unbelievably will probably pass for a couple of touchdowns. I’m saying the Vikings win this game 30 to 24. The Lions must prove to me, they can win a game that matters before I start picking them in games that matter!

Comments, Questions or Thoughts Contact Kyle Horner at kyleh@wxousports.com
